TSCF Earns Sixth Consecutive 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator

On April 1, 2015, Charity Navigator announced that The Sierra Club Foundation (TSCF) earned its sixth consecutive 4-star rating, the highest rating a charity can achieve, for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency. Only 3 percent of charities evaluated by Charity Navigator have received at least six consecutive 4-star ratings.

“We are proud to announce The Sierra Club Foundation has earned our sixth consecutive 4-star rating. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way,” according to John P. Dugan, Founder and Chairman of Charity Navigator. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates The Sierra Club Foundation from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

TSCF funds and promotes efforts to educate, inspire, and empower people to protect, preserve, and improve the natural and human environment. We partner with individual and institutional donors to align financial resources with strategic, measurable outcomes; provide flexible funding for innovation; build capacity in the environmental movement; and create partnerships with a broad spectrum of allied organizations around shared values and goals. With close to $100 million in assets, The Sierra Club Foundation spends nearly 90 percent of its funds on environmental and conservation programs.
