New Chief Financial Officer, Simba Ndemera, Joins Sierra Club Foundation

By Dan Chu, Executive Director, Sierra Club Foundation

The Sierra Club Foundation is excited to announce the hire of our new Chief Financial Officer, Simba Ndemera, who comes to the Sierra Club Foundation with more than twenty years of experience in the financial and nonprofit worlds. He is replacing Ginny Quick, who is retiring after a nine year tenure leading the Foundation’s Finance Team. Ginny led the Foundation’s fossil fuel divestment strategy and guided the Foundation to an exciting new phase of mission-aligned investing.

Simba previously worked as Chief Financial Officer for One Bread Foundation, Inc. and has served on multiple boards of organizations like the Regroup Foundation and the Connections Counseling Center. Additionally, he is a chartered accountant with extensive work experience at a number of major public accounting firms and SEC registered companies.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Simba currently lives in Danville, California with his wife and two sons. He is active in the local community through church organizations and describes himself as a devout Christian. "I am excited to help to protect our environment and create a more just and equitable world," said Ndemera.

“Our staff and Board of Directors welcome Simba to the team,” said Dan Chu, Sierra Club Foundation Executive Director. “He brings extensive experience in nonprofit financial management, will further our mission-aligned investment strategies, and has a deep personal commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice."

Simba’s experience with organizational database and technology transitions will prove invaluable as the Foundation continues to overhaul its financial and donor stewardship systems. Under his leadership, we look forward to making the greatest possible environmental and societal impact with the funds our donors generously contribute.
