SCF Signs onto Letter from Investors to Global Leaders

The Sierra Club Foundation joined over 380 other global investors in signing a letter to governments of G20 nations conveying strong support for the Paris Agreement ahead of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany on July 7-8, 2017. This group of long-term institutional investors represents more than $22 trillion in investments and believes that mitigation of climate change is essential for the safeguarding of our investments.

At the Sierra Club Foundation, our fiduciary duty includes a responsibility to manage funds in a manner consistent with our mission of promoting efforts to educate and empower people to protect and improve the natural and human environment. We prioritize mission-aligned investing without compromising the Foundation’s strategy to achieve superior long-term performance while moderating risk to maximize the resources available to meet the objectives of the Foundation and its donors.

Along with our fellow signatories to the letter, we call on global leaders to continue to support and implement the Paris Agreement, drive investments to support a rapid transition to a low carbon emitting world, and advance climate-related financial reporting frameworks.
