Professional Expertise
Staff of The Sierra Club Foundation bring professional expertise to the programmatic, financial, and administrative management of the Foundation and place high priority on efficiency and effectiveness. They bring strong personal and professional passion to the Foundation's mission to educate, inspire, and empower humanity to preserve the natural and human environment.

Peter Martin, Executive Director
Mr. Martin was appointed Executive Director of The Sierra Club Foundation in January 2008. Prior to joining the Foundation, he worked in Sierra Club's Office of Advancement from 2001 to 2007, leading major gift fundraising efforts in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. He also served as Director of the National Advisory Council, the Club's engagement body for major donors and influential supporters nationwide. As Senior Advancement Director for the Mid-Atlantic region from 2005 to 2008, he built a new major gifts region from the ground up, and spearheaded the Club's political fundraising efforts. Prior to his career in the environmental field, he worked as a management consultant with Kaiser Associates, a strategy consultancy for many of the nation's Fortune 100 companies. He became interested in the Sierra Club as a volunteer for the Club's Inner City Outings Program in Washington, D.C. He and his wife, Emily, live in Marin County, CA with their two young sons.
Ginny Quick, Director of Finance
Ms. Quick joined the Foundation as Director of Finance in August of 2009. She directs all aspects of the finance and accounting operations of the Foundation and provides leadership and direction in formulating and implementing the financial plans and policies required to support the Foundation's mission and the execution of its programs. Prior to joining the Foundation, she spent nearly thirteen years as the Chief Financial and Operations Officer at the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, Ca. A trained accountant, she has a great depth of experience in operational management and human resources in addition to her financial expertise. As a Bay Area resident for over twenty years, she has enjoyed skiing, camping, and hiking throughout Northern California. She has four grown sons and two young granddaughters.
Henry Holmes, Grants and Compliance Director
Mr. Holmes joined the Foundation in November of 2010 and directs all of the Foundation’s grantmaking, project fiscal sponsorship, and legal compliance efforts as well as managing its marketing and communications. He has a wealth of legal, philanthropic and nonprofit experience, most recently serving as a Senior Program Analyst at Tides Foundation and previously as Program Officer with the Columbia Foundation. Prior to working in philanthropy, he held program leadership positions with Earth Island Institute, Urban Habitat, and the California Public Interest Research Group. He began his professional career, after graduating from law school, in the private sector in commercial banking law and regulatory compliance. A Bay Area resident for over twenty years, he practices Tai Chi Chuan and enjoys travel, photography, hiking, and music.
Carrie Hudiburgh, Grants and Compliance Manager
Ms. Hudiburgh joined the Foundation in 2007 as its Grants Manager. She has been in the Sierra Club Family since 2001, working for the Loma Prieta Chapter from 2001 to 2003 and then as Sierra Club’s Chapter & Group Education Project Coordinator from 2003 to 2007. She helps ensure all grants advance the charitable purposes of the Foundation and manages the project approval process. She reviews all grant project proposals including Sierra Club's National, Chapters and Groups to ensure compliance. She also coordinates the EarthShare workplace-giving program and is a member of the EarthShare Board of Directors. A Bay Area and California resident for over thirty-five years, she enjoys gardening, reading and is a Bay Area sports enthusiast.
Brian Kavanagh, Senior Accountant
Mr. Kavanagh joined the Foundation in 2008 and serves as its Senior Accountant, helping to oversee the Foundation’s financials and coordinating the audit preparation and 990 tax form, among other things. Prior to joining the Foundation, he worked as an accounting consultant for Robert Half International. A native of San Francisco, he is a long-time Giants baseball enthusiast and enjoys running and the outdoors. He resides in the Bay Area with his wife and two young sons.
Lauren Meyer, Manager of Administration & Board Relations
Ms. Meyer joined the staff in September of 2010 as Manager of Administration and Board Relations. She worked for the Sierra Club before joining the Foundation, starting as an intern in 2006 and then working for nearly four years in the Sierra Club’s Gift Planning department in Washington, D.C. She works closely with the Board of Directors in planning and overseeing board meetings and helps assist the executive director. New to the Bay Area, she enjoys hiking and exploring Northern California.
Naomi Reed, Bookkeeper
Ms. Reed serves as the Foundation bookkeeper and has a long tenure with the Foundation, first joining the staff in 2002. She helps manage the Foundation’s financial accounts, including bank deposits, account analysis and audit preparation work. She has two sons and resides in the Bay Area.
Pam Abraham, Administrative Assistant
Ms. Abraham joined the Foundation in June of 2010, helping to coordinate the workplace giving program and assisting the grants team. She splits her time between TSCF and the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, where she works as the Asset Management Coordinator. A Bay Area transplant, she enjoys running, photography, and exploring San Francisco's neighborhoods.
